It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the possibility.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and after that the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

Once she was out her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.
